The History of the Truths Taught at the Kabbalah Centre

The Kabbalah Centre is a Los Angeles based non-profit center with the mission of bringing the instructions found in the Zohar, or Book Of Splendor to people throughout the world allowing them to experience true happiness in their lives. The information contained in the Zohar was not known to ordinary individuals until the Kabbalah Centre was opened in 1922 by Rav Yehuda Ashlag who was the first person to translated the Zohar from Aramaic to Hebrew. The basic principles of Kabbalah were given to Rav Shimon Bar Yochai while he was hiding in painful isolation in a cave near Peki’in, Israel for 13 years. The Teachings of the Kabbalah Centre

The Kabbalah Centre was established in Los Angeles in 1984. It is an outgrowth of a Kabbalah organization from the Middle East called Yeshivah Kol Yehuda that was founded in 1925. Before its establishment in Los Angeles, the predecessor to the Kabbalah Centre was located in New York City and was called The National Research Institute of Kabbalah.
The National Research Institute of Kabbalah, and the Kabbalah Centre, were established by Rav Philip Berg and Rav Yehuda Tzvi Brandwein. A great deal of the teachings and practices of the Kabbalah Centre have been presented in texts and other materials prepared by these two individuals.

The Kabbalah Centre takes a more inclusive approach to making the Kabbalistic teachings available to people than historically has been the case. The Kabbalah Centre does not require its students to have a prior knowledge of Jewish and Hebrew texts. The Kabbalah Centre does not believe that this is necessary for students to have an understanding of Kabbalist teachings.
